Advent & Christmas

The Incarnation - the taking on of our flesh by the Lord Jesus Christ - is at the heart of the Christian Gospel.

Advent (Latin for “arrival” or “coming”) is the four-week season in the Christian year that prepares the faithful for the coming of Christ. Rooted in watchfulness and hope, it looks both backward to Our Lord’s first coming in Bethlehem and forward to His glorious return at the end of the age. Like the season of Lent, Advent is marked with penance, fasting, almsgiving, and special devotions. Through Scripture, prayer, and the lighting of the Advent wreath, the Church is invited to awaken from complacency and ready her heart for the Kingdom. It is a season of quiet joy, hopeful anticipation, and renewed desire for the light of Christ.

All Christians are encouraged to make their Confession during Advent as a spiritual preparation for the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord. Confessions will be heard on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-5:30pm. You may also make an appointment with any of the clergy of the parish.

“…we worship and love the Word who is from the unbegotten and ineffable God, since also He became man for our sakes, that becoming a partaker of our sufferings, He might also bring us healing.” -St Justin Martyr
