Holy Week Liturgies
The Paschal mystery - the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ - is at the heart of the Christian Gospel.
During Holy Week, we enter into the drama of the last days of Christ’s ministry and earthly life. On Palm Sunday we process with palms as Jesus enters triumphantly into Jerusalem. The evening of Maundy Thursday begins the Triduum - the three sacred days. We recall Christ’s institution of the Eucharist, his washing of the disciples’ feet, and his agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. On Good Friday, the altar is laid bare and we walk with Christ to Calvary, where he is crucified. On Holy Saturday the earth waits in silence while the body of God incarnate lays lifeless in the tomb. These three days form one single liturgy, culminating in the Great Vigil and First Mass of Easter which are celebrated on Saturday evening.
Join us as we rejoice in the triumphant resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!
